Overview

This 9-day, 8-night Kashmir-to-Astore trek is an exclusive crossover for the trekking community, taking in three-plus alpine lakes — Riat Lake, the famous Balore Kassi Lake, Domail Lake — and several smaller tarns along the way.
It's a summer trek that isn't technically difficult: anyone with moderate stamina can join, because we don't leave anyone behind. On average you'll trek 5–8 hours a day with regular stops, covering 10–12 km daily.
The route runs from Islamabad through Sharda and Tao Butt, on via Khoriyan, Balore Kassi Lake, Riat Lake and Riat, then over to Astore via the historic Kala Pani and Gori Kot — returning through Batakundi and the Babusar Pass to Islamabad via Naran and Kaghan.
Good to know: graded moderate-to-difficult but accessible to anyone with reasonable stamina. Transport is an air-conditioned vehicle, daily day-packs are provided, and the trek is supported by a professional guide team, a licensed armed security escort for the remote sections, GPS Garmin navigation and a first-aid kit. Days are mild and nights are cold. Don't have gear? We can arrange it or advise where to buy it.
