Overview

An adventurer's bucket list must include Karambar Lake. The trek itself is graded easy-to-medium, but it does involve several hours of walking each day, so some prior trekking experience is recommended.
Karambar Lake is one of Pakistan's most exceptional trekking destinations. At 4,272 m it's the 2nd highest lake in Pakistan and the 31st highest in the world — roughly 3.9 km long, 2 km wide and averaging 52 m deep — and one of the highest biologically active lakes on Earth.
The route traverses the Broghil Valley in Chitral district, along the Afghan Wakhan corridor between Tajikistan and Pakistan. It's one of the most isolated and least-developed corners of the country, yet it holds around 30 freshwater lakes ringed by glaciers and mountains amid breathtaking terrain.
Good to know: the route is well-established and rated easy-to-medium, crossing varied terrain — shrubs, glaciers, lakes, streams and meadows. Seats are limited to 10. Best in July and August, suitable for ages 12 and up. Don't have gear? We can arrange it or guide you on where to buy it.
