Uchal festival of Kalash valley is of three days. It starts at Rumbur valley.
In this festival, Kalashi people celebrate the Uchal Festival pre-harvest with cheese, corn, and wine. People of Kalash valley love music and dance on the beat of drums. Women dance in a circle on different songs. An interesting fact about Kalashi people is that they do not mourn the deaths. They corpses are buried above the ground in wooden boxes instead of being buried in the ground.
The Kalash Valleys are valleys in Chitral District in northern Pakistan. They are inhabited by the Kalash people, who have customs and language which are quite different from their neighbors, and historically have had a different religion. There are three main valleys.
The largest and most populous valley is Mumuret (Bumburet), reached by a road from Ayun in the Kunar Valley. Rumbur and Acholgah are sided valleys north of Bumburet. The third valley, Biriu (Birir), is s side valley of the Kunar Valley south of Bumburet.
Chitral Gol National Park is situated in the beautiful valley of Chitral. Chitral Gol is a narrow valley, its gorge running for some 18km before broadening out into a basin surrounded by high peaks. Numerous tributaries drain into the Chitral Gol, which flows southwards into the Kunar River.
This National park is famous for its Markhor goats, estimated 100-125 in 1970, and 225 in 1975. A more recent estimate indicates a population size of 650. Other ungulates, such as Siberian ibex and Ladakh urial (Shapu). They occur in very small numbers, as do black bear. The status of snow leopard changed from tenuous security in 1970 to seriously threatened by 1974. The species does not appear to be resident, visiting the park occasionally. Wolves are seen less frequently following restrictions on grazing by livestock.
